Mārtiņš Upītis (b. 1986, Latvia) is a fine arts graduate, technical artist, and computer graphics specialist who seamlessly combines creative programming with artistic expression. His expertise lies in physical lighting and materials, technical problem solving and occasionally - story telling.
As the co-founder of ‘Physical Addons’, Mārtiņš focuses on designing tools that empower artists across diverse industries, including film, animation, and computer games. His products are used by well known companies, including Apple, Bethesda, Renault, Disney and others.
In his multifaceted career, Mārtiņš has contributed to various roles, including concept artist and shader programmer for numerous computer games and interactive art installations. He has also worked on VR simulator training for the medical and military sectors, serving as a 3D modeler, programmer, and workflow designer.
His latest contribution is to the feature animated film Flow (2024), directed by Gints Zilbalodis and produced by Dream Well Studio, Sacrebleu Productions, and Take Five, where he focused on creating water effects.
