Betija Zvejniece (b. 2001, Latvia) graduated bachelor studies in Film Directing at Latvian Academy of Culture in 2023.
She has directed short documentary film "Einarrative" (2022) for Latvian National television, fiction-short "12th of May" (2021), experimental short film "?" (2021), which was screened at festivals of experimental cinema "Process" (Latvia), "25FPS" (Croatia), "S8" (Spain) and others.
On 1/4/24 “Einarrative” received nominations for Latvian National Film Award Lielais Kristaps (The Big Kristaps) in 5 categories - best documentary short, best debut film, with Betija being nominated as the best documentary director, best scripwriter and best editor.
Short film “Experts of Youth” (2023) is part of her bachelor's thesis. Her films always have a strong connection with poetry and poetic elements.
Betija's poetry and critiques have been published in many Latvian literary editions, such as “Strāva”, "Žoklis", "Punctum" and she is one of the creators and editors of the avant-garde literary monthly edition "Avīzes Nosaukums".
