Anna Ansone (b. 1993, Latvia) is a film director from Riga.
After graduating from the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture in 2016, Ansone went on to study at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Her graduation film Still Life (2020) was screened at numerous international short-film festivals and won the West-Art Jury prize at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 2020.
Her short film Can’t Help Myself (2022) was the winner of the Riga International Film Festival’s National Short Film Competition in 2022 and had its International premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2023.
On 1/4/204 Can’t Help Myself received nominations for Latvian National Film Award Lielais Kristaps (The Big Kristaps) in 3 categories - best short film, best debut film and best sound.
Currently Anna is working on the pre-production her feature debut “Summer blues”.
