"Talent. Icon. A woman." These three words encapsulate the essence the creators of the documentary "Mūza" aimed to convey about the world-renowned pianist Mūza Rubackytė. This cinematic journey unfolds across Vilnius, Paris, Geneva, and Budapest, revealing the captivating world of art music through the lens of the charismatic and gifted Lithuanian pianist.
Yet, behind the scenes of Mūza's success lies a story of struggle, particularly during her youth when the aspirations and dreams were confined by the constraints of the Soviet regime. In the film, Mūza opens up about the profound meanings of freedom, love, and calling, shedding light on the personal sacrifices made to share her exceptional talent. "My fate unfolded alongside the fate of Lithuania," reflects pianist M. Rubackytė in the film, while director Agnė Marcinkevičiūtė crafts a musical portrait that unfolds the impressive and open narrative of the pianist's life.
The audience is invited behind the scenes of the world of high music, attending Mūza's classes with her students and gaining a glimpse into the artist's life and personal space. The film, featuring collaboration with international participants and experts, "is a film about an artist's efforts to create perfect beauty and give it to people," affirms director A. Marcinkevičiūtė. She is confident that the film will not only resonate with artists and music enthusiasts but also capture the interest of a wider audience.
